Volvo appoints the first two certified EV dealers in Canada in Quebec

Volvo Trucks North America on Monday named two dealerships in Quebec as the first two Volvo Trucks certified electric vehicle (EV) dealerships in Canada.

Volvo Trucks Montreal and Parc Center du Camion sales and service teams have completed Volvo Trucks’ training program requirements to ensure they are ready to support the commercial deployment of Class 8 battery electric trucks In the region.

“The expansion of our network of Volvo Trucks certified electric vehicle dealerships in Canada is an important step in our efforts to deploy our zero-emission Volvo VNR electric trucks across North America,” said Peter Voorhoeve, President of Volvo Trucks North America.

The program has been designed to ensure that sales representatives are trained to consult with customers considering deploying Volvo VNR Electric to ensure they select a technically viable model configuration based on their operating requirements.

Dealer certification ensures that technicians have the proper technical training required to service transmissions and electrical components, as well as understand the safety procedures to follow when working with high voltage systems. Certification also includes investments in necessary vehicle diagnostic tools and requires the dealership to maintain an inventory of parts and components for the VNR Electric model.

The Pare Center du Camion facility in Quebec is equipped to service Volvo VNR electric trucks, including the purchase of an electric truck charger. Pare Center du Camion has trained and certified three technicians to carry out maintenance and repairs on customers’ Volvo VNR electric trucks.

Volvo Trucks Montreal’s Dorval location, which has received Volvo Trucks EV Certified Dealership designation, features six truck bays that have been outfitted to support battery electric vehicle maintenance and repairs, including the access to a mobile EV charging unit. Six of Volvo Trucks Montreal’s 30 technicians have completed the Volvo Trucks training program, and one specialist has completed additional courses needed to become an internal training resource for other technicians.

“We have weekly conversations with our customers who are very interested in Volvo VNR Electric technology, including discussing ideal routes to start when integrating battery electric trucks into their fleet,” said Jean-Francois Bibeau, vice-president. of sales, Montreal Volvo Trucks.
