Strikes to close three ferries in Quebec from Monday

QUEBEC – The service of three ferries crossing the St. Lawrence River will be interrupted in the coming days due to a strike, the Société des traversiers du Québec announced Thursday.

The STQ declared that the strikes would affect the Quebec â Lévis, Sorel-Tracy â St-Ignace-de-Loyola and Matane â Baie-Comeau â Godbout ferries. The union affiliated with the CSN represents deckhands, maintenance attendants, boarding attendants and engine room personnel.
The Sorel-Tracy â St-Ignace-de-Loyola will make its last run on Monday, November 1 at 6 a.m. from St-Ignace-de-Loyola and will resume service on November 5 at 7:30 p.m. from Sorel-Tracy , says STQ. For Matane â Baie-Comeau â Godbout, the last descent will be on November 1st at 5pm from Baie-Comeau before resuming on November 6th at 8am from Matane.
The Quebec-Lévis ferry will be suspended from November 3 to 7. The last ferry will leave the capital on Wednesday at 1:30 a.m. and normal service will resume on November 7 at 6:30 a.m.
