Quebec Elections 2022: Prioritizing Health Professionals
MONTREAL, September 12, 2022 /CNW Telbec/ – As the election season is in full swing, the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), the Federation of General Practitioners of Quebec (FMOQ) and the Federation of Medical Specialists of Quebec (FMSQ) are uniting to call on all the parties to formally commit to restructuring Quebec healthcare system to provide a healthy work environment for clinicians.
According to the CMA’s latest National Physician Health Survey, 60% of physicians in Quebec responded that they suffered from burnout, which is 7% more than the national average. This statistic alone not only illustrates the seriousness of this problem, but it also speaks to the fact that doctors are not invincible. Like their patients, too often they face major health issues that are unique to them. That’s why it’s so important that the next government put health care first.
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic was declared in March 2020, of Quebec The healthcare system presented a number of challenges. Unsurprisingly, the pandemic has only compounded these issues, putting more and more pressure on doctors and other clinicians.
Over the past two years, the health care system has been in the spotlight and it is essential that it take center stage in this election campaign. Let’s see this election for what it is: a unique opportunity for the next government to strengthen our health care system once and for all.
