MEDIA ADVISORY – REMINDER – 22 First Nations communities in Quebec, the First Nations Education Council and the Government of Canada will make a historic education announcement

KAHNAWAKE, QC, July 14, 2022 /CNW/ – Please note that Indigenous Services, the First Nations Education Council (FNEC) and its 22 member communities will sign a regional education agreement.

To mark this event, the Honorable Patty Hadju, Minister of Indigenous Services; Ghislain PicardRegional Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador; John Martin, chief of Gesgapegiag and chief responsible for education; and Kahsennénhawe Sky-Deer, Grand Chief of Kahnawà:ke, will speak at a press conference. They will be accompanied by the Chiefs and Grand Chiefs of the member communities of the CEPN, as well as the Director General of the CEPN, Denis Gros-Louis.

This historic agreement will support the academic success of First Nations students by Quebec. It will ensure quality education based on the models, priorities and realities of the communities while promoting their cultures and languages.

Details of the agreement will be revealed at a press conference and a ceremony will follow the announcement.
