EXFO partners with SUSE to deliver real-time network visibility in cloud-native networks

Equip service providers to monitor and measure network performance in real time

QUEBEC CITY, June 7, 2022 /CNW Telbec/ – EXFO, the communications industry’s testing, monitoring and analysis experts, today announced that EXFO’s Active u-Verifier has been tested and validated on the SUSE Rancher container management platform. , the open source Kubernetes container orchestration system. Together, these technologies will enable communications service providers (CSPs) and enterprise networks with mission-critical applications to better understand the real-time performance of their networks, through virtual and cloud-native functions. They can then take action before performance dips affect subscriber experience and impact critical 5G revenue streams.

This collaboration aims to solve important problems for communication service providers. According to the latest joint research results from Heavy Reading and EXFO, 69% of CSPs agreed that detecting and correlating 5G network outages is more complex in cloud infrastructures, compared to non-cloud legacy networks.1 74% of CSPs also believe that correlating outages in cloud-based infrastructure is difficult due to lack of visibility or access to tools to correlate these outages. Additionally, 1 in 5 CSPs believe that fault isolation in a specific standalone (SA) or non-standalone (NSA) 5G link domain takes more than 75% of the total time to resolution. In comparison, only 4% of CSPs believe this is the case in 4G networks.

To help address these challenges, EXFO has developed its Active u-Verifier: a cloud-native, automated service assurance solution that deploys, monitors and adaptively scales on-demand surveying. With SUSE Rancher orchestration, EXFO’s Active u-Verifier can be deployed along the network service path to provide comprehensive network performance visibility across virtual and cloud-native functions. The solution functions as a test generator to support network segmentation and mesh testing requirements. The extensive catalog of tests allows CSPs to validate network performance as well as service level experience.

“We live in a hyperconnected era, where the network stack will only continue to transform,” said Richard Card, Global Head of Telco GTM at SUSE. “Mobile technologies like 5G are essential for connecting end users to devices, services and more, and service providers face heightened expectations to better manage network performance and resolve issues in a timely manner. whether they are virtualized or not. EXFO’s innovative active testing combined with SUSE Rancher’s industry-leading Kubernetes management system is an ideal solution to give service providers a complete picture of their network, service health and problem resolution. »

“The pairing of EXFO’s active test solution with SUSE Rancher’s carrier-grade Kubernetes management system shows an additional commitment to providing best-in-class network active test performance monitoring solution,” said Claudio Mazzuca, Vice-President, Partnerships and Strategic Alliances at EXFO. “By providing complete visibility into network performance and detecting and resolving issues affecting subscribers in real time, the process of network monitoring and assurance is ultimately simplified. This relieves service providers, allowing them to effectively monitor and optimize the 5G network and services, which is at the core of EXFO’s adaptive service assurance business.”
